It now has buffer beam detail, brass cab and name plates, HMRS decals on tender and Precision decals on the splasher. Still to be fitted are tender brake gear and coal.

| SMR has taken delivery of the fantastically detailed Bachmann model of the National Railway Museum's City of Truro. Already on our stock list is the rake of Dean clerestory coaches, making an ideal fin de siècle train. | |

On the 9th May 1904 the Great Western Railway City class 4-4-0, No.3440 City Of Truro, was unofficially recorded as reaching 102.4 mph whilst descending Wellington bank in Somerset heading an Ocean Mail special from Plymouth to Bristol, to become the first steam locomotive to travel at more than 100 mph. No.3440 was built at Swindon in 1903 and is now preserved in full working order. See Wikipedia's entry on this loco. Also videos on YouTube.

The last Zero 1 chip has been removed. GWR 7808 Cookham Manor was bought in 1984 and had the chip installed in 1986. It's not had much work and none at all since the return to analogue control in 1991/2. Like on some other locos, this one had to have the chip in the tender. |

At Hempton shed, still to build are the stairs each side of the coal plant. Other plans for 2010 include finishing the gas works site and making a start on Barford goods yard.
Replacement motors have arrived from ModelTorque in Australia, to be fitted in our three Lima models. They'll be fitted in time for next running season. |

| Evening Star and Mallard were serviced in late 2009 and found to be in running order, ready for the much-delayed 30-year celebrations. Also ready to run were Matt's Deltic and Jimmi's first little loco, the Holden 0-4-0T.
Hempton shed was formally opened for traffic by Junior Director Lucy on Boxing Day - see here. |
